Man jumps into Yamuna river from DND flyover, dies

In another tragic incident, a man died after jumping into the Yamuna river from the DND flyover on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said dispatch received a call around 1:45 p.m. to the Sunlight Colony police station regarding one person jumping into the Yamuna river from the DND flyover following which a police team rushed to the spot.

"At the spot, one bike was found abandoned standing on the DND flyover. The bike is registered in the name of Raju Kumar, a resident of Kakrola in Dwarka area," said a senior police official. The caller, Arif, a resident of Jhuggi in Taimur Nagar, told the police that he saw a person jumping from the DND flyover while he was fishing in the river.

"The dead body of an unknown person has been recovered from the river and no identification document was found during the examination of the dead body," the official said, adding that police teams are also investigating the address of the bike registered.

"We have also initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the Penal Code," the official added.
